Winchcombe with its close proximity to the Cotswold Way, Wardens Way, Gloucestershire Way, Wychavon Way and Windrush Way, is an ideal base for a walking holiday. There are many places to eat and enjoy a drink in Winchcombe and the town is graced with many links with both national and local history. Sudeley Castle was the home of Katherine Parr, Henry VIII’s last wife and nearby are Hailes Abbey; a 13th Century Cistercian house, founded by Richard, Earl of Cornwall and Belas Knap, one of the finest neolithic long barrows in Gloucestershire. Winchcombe is also ideally situated for Cheltenham with its Literature, Jazz, Science and National Hunt Festivals. The last of which of course culminates in the world famous Cheltenham Gold Cup.

This picture postcard cottage is situated at the end of Church Lane two minutes walk from the historic 11th Century Church of St. Nicholas which holds candlelit services. The accommodation is spread over 3 floors, downstairs there is a spacious lounge which is light and airy in the summer and cozy and warm in the winter, with feature stone fireplace, wood burner and stone hearth and pretty window looking onto the appealing garden.
Just off the lounge is a kitchen breakfast room with dining table, which seats six and child’s chair. The superb modern fitted kitchen with Elm wood floor has granite work surfaces, oven with 4 ring hob and extractor fan, Washer/Drier, Dishwasher, fridge and freezer compartment and a full range of excellent cooking implements.

The farmhouse-style kitchen, fully equipped and modern, displays lots of period features. Take a rest in the window-seat, the sun on your back, while you admire the sheer size of some of the old flagstones! On the table you will find a small collection of 'goodies' to welcome you. Upstairs are the comfy bedrooms, each with it's own character; and the bath & shower rooms with their carefully planned modern facilities. In the sitting room a wood burning stove will keep you wonderfully cosy and warm during the colder weeks. Here, for your convenience, we have installed a P.C. with broadband internet access. Built of local honey-coloured stone, the cottage stands in 3.5 acres of land, which includes a small holding where we keep poultry and sheep. The lovely garden comprises lawns, borders, trees, roses and herbs.

Being close to the M5 and ideally located to explore the Cotswolds, it is the perfect base for a larger family or group and also perfect for groups of Ornithologists visiting the Wildfowl Trust. From the village you can enjoy lovely walks along the canal, as well as enjoying boat trips which take you as far as the docks in Gloucester. There are 3 pub/restaurants within walking distance, all serving good food and beer, and there is also the superb facilities within the Wildfowl trust itself. The historic cities of Gloucester and Cheltenham are a short drive away, and of course you are in a great position to explore the Cotswolds, particularly the Stroud valleys.

Nearby, on the banks of the Windrush, are the old ruins of Minster Lovell Hall and there are many other attractions and places of interest to be found locally.
The Barns are comfortable and very fully equipped. Both are centrally heated and facilities include satellite TV, with DVD players. There are plenty of books for those who decide to have a lazy day and large scale Ordnance Survey maps of the area are provided. Our guests also have the use of the three acre field next to the Barns, which contains some fifty varieties of wild flowers and plants.
