Tucked into the hillside of beautiful Matterdale, Crookwath Cottage is exactly halfway between Keswick and Penrith, with easy access to Ullswater (5 Mins), Patterdale (10 Mins) and Keswick (15 Mins). Overlooking the famous Aira Beck, the cottage is set in our private 22 acres of woodland, with stunning views across the fells in all directions.
The heart of the cottage is the large homely kitchen, with Aga stove, refectory table and sofa - fitted with all mod cons, including fridge, washing machine, and micro wave. The large sitting room and dining area dates back to the 17th century, and oozes character, charm and warmth, with stunning views from all windows of Matterdale / Watermillock Fells. With a traditional range used until the 1950’s for cooking, boiling the water and heating the bread oven, it is now also equipped with Sky TV and video, two sofas and two armchairs. Upstairs there are three bedrooms (1 dbl with ensuite bathroom, 1 King Size, 1 Twin) and a second bathroom, all with stunning views across the fells. Situated in the village of Bassenthwaite, a true Lakeland village which still has its pub, village green and three working farms, Rivendell offers comfortable accommodation for up to six people. Bassenthwaite is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either up the fells to Dash Waterfall and Skiddaw beyond, or along the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. There are also woods to explore and a river with ducks to feed. The busy market town of Keswick is a 10-15 minute drive away with its outdoor shops, cafes, cinema, theatre and boating on Derwentwater Lake. Cockermouth, the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth, is 15 minutes in the opposite direction and has good antique shops, restaurants and river walks.
The hallway leads to a kitchen on your left and the sitting room on your right. The kitchen is warm and well equipped with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and plenty of storage space. There is dining for six and a sofa making it a sociable place to prepare meals. The utility room leads from the kitchen and has washing machine and tumble drier. Nestling at the foot of the Pennines and enjoying uninterrupted views of the Lakeland Fells, Milburn Grange is an excellent base for walking, cycling, touring, or relaxing. In addition, within easy access there are coarse fishing lakes, 2 golf courses, and riding stables. Nearby, there are two pubs, both of which serve good food and welcome children and, within walking distance there is a village store/Post Office/garage.
Our seven self-contained cottages (some beamed) have been converted from redundant barns and are ideal for a break at any time of the year. They are centrally heated, comfortably furnished and each has a fitted, fully equipped kitchen (microwave, full-size cooker; fridge) and colour TV, two cottages have 4-poster beds and 2 have open fires. The three-bedroom cottages have a dishwasher and washing machine. Stable Cottage (2 bedrooms) also has a washing machine. Mains Cottage can be found half a mile outside the delightful village of Greystoke, between Keswick and Penrith, with easy access to Ullswater, Glenridding and Patterdale. Close to the edge of the National Park, it is a good center for exploring the northern fells, the Eden Valley and the Roman Wall. Private all weather tennis court, heated outdoor swimming pool, shop and pub can all be found within walking distance.
Well equipped and furnished to a good standard, the cottage stands in a pleasant garden on a quiet country road with views of local countryside. The cottage has a sitting room with gas burning stove, TV & hi-fi, seating and dining areas, and French windows into garden. The well equipped kitchen has a four ring gas oven, microwave and dishwasher, while the downstairs bathroom has a washing machine and drying area, as well as shower/bath, wc and wash basin. There are three bedrooms - Bedroom 1 with twin beds, Bedroom 2 with double bed and Bedroom 3 with twin beds plus a cot. Manesty stands at the foot of Cat Bells and Maiden Moor where the open fell meets the stone walls of the fields. It is built in the traditional Lakeland style, on a site chosen centuries ago for its sunny elevated position and its sweeping views across Borrowdale. The fine old farmhouse is beautifully situated, and incorporates what are now three of the cottages: Manesty Band, Manesty and Manesty Dairy. | HOLLIN HEAD, Eskdale, Cumbria Sleeping up to 8 people
Situated in the heart of Eskdale, one of the most tranquil valleys of the Lake District, Hollin Head is a traditional Lakeland cottage that dates back as far as records began in 1586. The accommodation has a fully equipped kitchen (with oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, hifi system etc), dining room with a large table seating eight and a piano for singalongs, sitting room with widescreen TV, video and DVD player, and four bedrooms (one double, one twin, one triple and one single). Pets are more than welcome.
A large walled garden leads out to hundreds of walks - either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house! The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and for fishing. The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains leisurely making the seven mile journey down to the sea.

Looking like the sort of late Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in, this elegant Georgian detached house is set in a quiet lane on the edge of the ancient village of Cartmel, famous for its priory church, racecourse, village square and several notable pubs and restaurants. It is a Grade II Listed building and all its rooms catch the sun and overlook either the Priory church or the local fell - excellent walking and eating right on the doorstep! It was built on the site of the medieval tithe barn and is surrounded by a walled garden with a pond and stream.
Over the last fifteen years we have restored it to its former glory and revealed many of the original features. We have furnished it carefully to keep its charm and character, using period furniture and Laura Ashley fabrics. On the ground floor is a sitting room with colour TV, video, hi-fi and log fire, a dining room, a well equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, washing machine, drier, microwave etc), a breakfast room, and a scullery. No more than a few dozen houses, Applethwaite is the most sought-after village around Keswick, and it's not hard to see why. The village is a sleepy little hamlet, more reminiscent of Madeira than England, with hens, ducks, goats and sheep wandering over the lane. Our two warm cottages are comfortably furnished, including open fires, and have well equipped kitchens which include dishwasher, washing machine, drier and microwave.
Derwent Lea (sleeps 8) is surrounded by a lovely garden, in which children and pets can play in safety, and has lounge and dining rooms with wonderful views, kitchen, bathroom, downstairs wc and three big bedrooms - two doubles and a very big bedroom with two single beds and a set of full sized bunks.
