Tarn Cottages are superbly located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, next to the tiny White Moss Tarn, on the bridleway between Grasmere and Rydal Mount. The cottage is in a peaceful, secluded location accessible by car, with a parking space.

The fells to the rear lead up to the Fairfield range of mountains, while the Loughrigg and Rydal areas provide gentle and beautiful countryside. Wordsworth's home, 'Dove Cottage' is only a few minutes walk down the lane. White Moss tarn, adjacent to the cottage, was reputably used for skating by the Wordsworth family.
