Looking like the sort of late Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in, this elegant Georgian detached house is set in a quiet lane on the edge of the ancient village of Cartmel, famous for its priory church, racecourse, village square and several notable pubs and restaurants. It is a Grade II Listed building and all its rooms catch the sun and overlook either the Priory church or the local fell - excellent walking and eating right on the doorstep! It was built on the site of the medieval tithe barn and is surrounded by a walled garden with a pond and stream.   



Over the last fifteen years we have restored it to its former glory and revealed many of the original features. We have furnished it carefully to keep its charm and character, using period furniture and Laura Ashley fabrics. On the ground floor is a sitting room with colour TV, video, hi-fi and log fire, a dining room, a well equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, washing machine, drier, microwave etc), a breakfast room, and a scullery. The first floor has two double bedrooms (one with washbasin), a twin bedroom and a bathroom. Above is a large attic with two further single beds. Beneath the house are extensive cellars, an extra cloakroom, and a games room. Outside, the secluded sunny garden has garden furniture and a barbecue. The house sleeps eight comfortably, although we do offer discounts for couples.
